Welcome to Coopers Hill Farm Shop
The home of Withybed English Longhorns and our traditional beef
Coopers Farm Shop Alvechurch
At Coopers Farm Shop we provide our Pasture for life certified grass fed English Longhorn beef. We are in full control of every aspect from the rearing of the cattle to the butchery, ensuring our beef is as natural and sustainable as possible. Our extensive range of beef offerings ensures there is something for everyone.
Our approach at Coopers Hill Farm is using traditional methods which help create a natural lifestyle for our English Longhorn cattle. Between rotational grazing at the farm to our conservation grazing sites, it enables the cattle to have natural grazing routines and a variety of pasture, which in effect gives them a vitamin rich diet and enables them to self medicate. As a result of our methods our slow grown beef is rich in vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids, whilst also providing the best flavour.
Our sustainable way of farming gives our cattle a stress free and longer life, whilst enhancing the soil diveristy and biodiversity of the area around us.

The Withybed Herd of English Longhorns
The Withybed herd of English Longhorns, conservation grazers, are based at Coopers Hill, Alvechurch and are moved periodically to multiple reserves across Worcestershire for wildlife trusts, the National Trust, and private bodies throughout the “grass” growing period.
These project sites we are employed on are mainly SSSI’s (Sites of special scientific interest), SINC’s (sites of importance for nature conservation), LNR’s, NNR’s (local & national nature reserves).
The cattle are on site to assist in the management by grazing, nibbling, or browsing of scrub, hedges and trees; therefore, this provides the cattle with essential natural trace elements & vitamins. Conservation grazing encourages biodiversity by the introduction of the grazing beef animal to the site.
The farming company Newgap ltd are approved producers with the Pasture Fed Livestock Association. See more here: www.pastureforlife.org
The History of Coopers Farm
Adrian & his wife Alison purchased the 33.5 acres of land formerly known as Coopers Hill Farm form the previous farmer in 1991, the original farm was demolished in the early 1980’s to make way for the M42.
The farm has grown from scratch over the last 33 years with different enterprises and diversifications to make the unit viable, additional local land has been added to the acreage, sheep farming went out of the window just prior to the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001 and the cattle enterprise of conservation grazing was born in 2004.
The pedigree herd “Withybed” is registered with the Longhorn society and currently is endevouring to breed a cow with slightly smaller horns for ease of handling.
No Chemicals or Fertlisers Used
The ZERO use of chemicals and artificial fertilisers in OUR Beef production process helps the health of the soil & plant life and ultimately rewards us with a healthy product to nourish us
Minimal Disturbance of the Soil
We minimise disturbance of the soil so it holds the carbon in place while the soil depth and fertility grows, the carbon footprint of our beef operation is therefore lower.
Pasture For Life Accredited
We are proud to be pasture for life accredited.
We rear our cattle with no grain or soya, feeding only on 100% pasture, producing natural and healthy beef
